I love donuts. When we were in Mobile, the Krispy Kreme outlet is just a few blocks away from where we stayed. Gosh, I can feel my mouth watering every time we pass the store. So finally, we bought half a dozen of freshly bake, fresh from the oven and still hot donuts…. Believe me… I ate and ate and enjoyed it a lot! Yummyyy!

Today Post::Broiled Flounder
I never had flounder so Dave insisted that I should buy it. From the looks of it (and the price), I will not buy it. Flounder is a bit pricey but Dave insisted that I should try so we bought 1 Flounder fish.
Dave told me that he used to eat flounder and it is really good. He couldn’t wait for me to try it. I wanted to grill it but since I have lazy bones in me (lol), I don’t want to do the charcoal grilling for one piece of fish. I then decided to just broil it in the oven.
Ingredients:
1 Flounder
powdered garlic
garlic salt
pepper
Directions:
- Preheat oven to broil
- Put two slits on the body of the fish on both sides. Season the whole fish with garlic salt, garlic powder and pepper. Place in a cookie sheet.
- Broil for 10 minutes. Turn over and broil some more.
- Serve with dip ( a mixture of soysauce, vinegar, tomato, onion, pepper)
Note: Time of broiling varies so just keep on checking your oven.
Today Post::Clams Soup

spring onions

One of the most common problems when storing your favorite food at your work’s refrigerator is you can’t control if somebody will get your food. Of course, you can’t just stay inside the pantry and guard your food. There is a risk that your food will be consumed by your officemate without your knowledge. If you are experiencing this annoying problem, you need to check out www.FridgeLocker.com. This is your solution to keep your food safe from “Fridge-A-Raiders”. Today Post::Food Trip Friday # 18

I went to the nearest Filipino store and I found this ripe mango. This is actually a product of Mexico but this is the closest I can get that taste like our mango in the Philippines. The Philippine mango taste better but this is also good. It is sweet and it has the smell of a ripe mango.

Today Post::Fish... and More Fish!
Before we went home from our Mobile trip, we loaded up with a lot of fish and shrimp. It is cheaper in Mobile and there are a lot of choices. We are fortunate to find a seafood place that sells everything that I want… so take a look at what I bought…
Did you know that eating fish is good for your health? It is recommended to eat fish so that your body can get fish oils, which are essential for heart, brain, joint and digestive health.
Today Post::Crustless Leek Tart, Greek style
You come home on a Saturday that has been fraught with activity after a full week, and the onset of colder weather makes you crave hearty food. But you don’t want to slave away. The crustless leek tart Greek style by an acquaintance of mine was just something that filled the ticket. The irony is that I had bought a ready-made crust for another tart, and my tired brain had absentmindedly unpacked the crust already. So I baked a pleonastic tart: a filling that is almost like a crust + new crust. But it’s all about what’s inside this baked goody.
Crustless Leek Tart, Greek style
6 big leeks, also the green parts
pepper and salt
2 bay leaves
50 g semolina flour
3 eggs
100 g grated gruyère or other cheese (I used parmezan)
2-3 tablespoons breadcrumbs
180 g feta
Preheat the oven at 180 °C.
Clean the leeks, cut them in rings. Add the bay leaves, and either steam or stirfry the leek until they are done. Remove the bay leaves, season with salt and pepper (no salt necessary on account of the feta). Add the semolina, and mix well.
Beat the eggs, and add them to the leek-semolina, mix again. Add the grated cheese, mix.
Coat a cake tin with butter, and sprinkle it with the breadcrumbs. Add the leek mix to the tin. Cut the feta in pieces, and divide over the tart.
Bake for 30 minutes. Serve warm.
The kind of comfort food that makes you feel grateful that you still lifted a finger to make it. Never mind the crust this time.
