Ah, dog days… enjoy ‘em. A knee-jerk reaction spells “mojito” or “caipirinha”, but as I’m not stretched out on one of those new deck chairs on car-free Oude Graanmarkt, household pick-me-ups apply.
Apple-Lime-Lemon Verbena Juice
3 apples
3 limes
handful of fresh lemon verbena leaves
Get out the champion juicer and juice the well-rinsed apples, with skin, but minus hearts, whole limes, and verbena leaves minus a few for decoration.
As I had to clean house afterwards, I had this straight, no chaser.
This liquid can also be perfectly elongated in a pitcher with still or sparkling water, with or without ice, to which verbena leaves are added.
