SecretBlog: Home-grown strawberry

Home-grown strawberry

These are not the strawberries I prepared a dessert with (2 posts ago), but this is a batch that stands outside, out in the sun facing South, and that I planted in early April. On 2 June I ate my first home-grown strawberry.

Here’s the recipe for its soil:

3 spoonfuls of garden soil
3 spoonfuls of coco peat
2 spoonfuls of humus
1 spoonful of sand
1 spoonful of lava kernels

In a 16 liter pot (about 4 plants, planted near the edge, with their hearts above the ground).

Extra/optional: seaweed extract, some chalk, some bentonite (clay mineral). Strawberries like some extras, but so far I haven’t used any.
